You hear about folks cycling across the country for charity, right? Well, a couple of them had their bikes swiped right out of downtown Winnipeg. Not the kind of welcome you expect when you’re doing good for others. What's interesting, though, is how quickly people in Winnipeg stepped up. Donations started rolling in, enough to get these cyclists back on the road and continuing their journey.

It makes you think about community, even when it’s five hours southeast of us. Here in Swan River, we know what it means to rely on each other. When a neighbour's baler breaks down during harvest, you don't ask questions, you just show up. When the snow flies and someone's truck is in the ditch near Thunder Hill, you stop. That’s just how it is.

While it happened far from our valley, it’s a story about human kindness, something we understand deeply here. These cyclists needed a hand, and Winnipeg gave it to them, simple as that.
