Good morning from the Lakehead — the Giant's still sleeping, but we're not. Let's get at it.
You know, there's always something making noise up here. Could be lake effect wind rattling the windows, or the big freighters rumbling through the harbour, maybe a moose making a racket out by Kakabeka Falls. But it sounds like folks in Intercity heard something else entirely yesterday around noon. A big boom, lights flickering, enough to get people online asking what in blue blazes just happened. Now, out here, we’ve got quarries, we’ve got industry, we’ve got weather that can make things creak and groan. But a boom that rattles your lights, right at lunchtime, that’s not your average Tuesday. It gets you thinking about what kind of forces are at play in this city, eh? Something geologic, something industrial, or just another mystery we all feel together?
It reminds you that even with all the talk about new developments down at Prince Arthur's Landing, or what’s happening on Algoma Street, there’s still this raw, untamed part of Thunder Bay. This place exists because we've got the sisu to make it exist, and sometimes that means living with sounds and sights that don't fit into neat little boxes. Whether it's a sonic boom or just the earth settling, it’s a reminder that up here, you’re always a bit closer to something big and elemental. You got to wonder if the Sleeping Giant just stretched a bit, eh?
