You won't believe what they're calling 'Dynamic Dating'
Good morning from the Lakehead — the Giant's still sleeping, but we're not. Let's get at it. So, you know how sometimes you hear something and you just gotta wonder, "only in Thunder Bay, eh?" Well, I saw this floating around and it just made me chuckle, even if I missed my chance to check it out. Folks are talking about something called "Dynamic Dating" and wondering how everyone's experience was. It sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, but out here, it's just another Tuesday.
### What is Dynamic Dating, eh?
From what I gather, it wasn't some new app or blind date setup down on Algoma Street. This "Dynamic Dating" event was a speed dating night put on by the good folks at Lakehead University, right there on our campus. It was a chance for students and maybe others from around town to meet new people, quickly, in a structured setting. You know, less awkward than trying to pick someone up while grabbing a Persian at the Country Market, and probably a bit more intentional than bumping into someone at Prince Arthur's Landing.
* It was a speed dating event held at Lakehead University. * The goal was for participants to meet several new people in a short amount of time. * It seems it was well-attended, judging by the buzz, even if I couldn't get there myself.
It's just so Thunder Bay, you know? We're a city that’s got sisu, we build things where they shouldn't be, and sometimes, even our dating scene takes on a kind of practical, no-nonsense approach. No fancy frills, just "here's a bunch of people, talk fast, see what happens." It speaks to that pragmatic streak we have up here, always looking for efficient ways to do things, even if it's finding a connection. Plus, any chance for Lakehead Thunderwolves fans to mingle, I’m all for it.
For those of you who went, tell us what happened. Did you find your person? Was it a bust? It's always interesting to see how these things play out in our own unique corner of the world.
