Your Leafs just barely clutched it against the Rangers
Yo, so if you went to bed early last night, you missed a wild one at The Bank. The Toronto Maple Leafs actually pulled off a 4-3 win against the New York Rangers, styll. It started hot, with Jake McCabe getting us on the board quick, then Nick Robertson showing pure skill off a nice feed from Max Domi. We were up 2-0 after one and then Daniel Joshua made it three with a beauty in the second, from Maccelli and Woll. Everything felt smooth, you know? Like we were actually going to cruise.
But then, the Leafs did that thing where they make you sweat, ahlie? Alexis Lafrenière and Mika Zibanejad both scored on the power play in the second period, just chipping away. Zibanejad got another one in the third to tie it up 3-3, and mans were getting bare nervous. The whole vibe in the arena shifted, you could feel it from up in the 300s. But then, Captain John Tavares, he just found a way. Buried one at 11:57 of the third, and that's all she wrote. Big, clutch goal when we needed it most.
This win is huge, trust me. We're now 31-29-13, still sitting at 7th in the Atlantic and holding onto that Wildcard #7 spot. We're riding a win streak, and the last 10 games we're 4-4-2, so this ain't exactly a hot streak, but a win's a win, especially against a team like the Rangers. We needed these two points, badly. With the playoffs looming, every single game matters now, more than a late-night streetcar ride across the city. The mood in Toronto this morning? Pure relief, maybe a bit of a hangover from the stress, but we'll take it.
Leafs Nation — we ride til we die, styll.
