Your city hall just voted on housing and it affects us
Okay but real talk, fam, City Hall's been busy and there's a vote that caught my eye. On March 23rd, the Confronting Anti-Black Racism Advisory Committee tabled an important motion about addressing evictions using disaggregated race-based data in social housing. That's a mouthful, I know, but it's about seeing who's actually being impacted by the housing crisis, especially in our city's social housing.
The motion *carried*, which is good news, by a vote of 7-3. But get this: Councillor Amber Morley voted *No*. I mean, she represents Ward 1, Etobicoke North, and this is exactly the kind of granular data we need to fix systemic issues. It's about knowing who needs help most, dude. If we don't have the numbers, how do we make things better for folks? Especially with the way rents are going, *ammaiyappa*! We need to keep an eye on how this data collection actually rolls out and if it truly makes a difference for residents facing evictions.
