### City Hall Fights for Your Commute
Real talk, this is big for anyone who relies on the TTC. On April 16th, 2026, the Toronto Transit Commission passed a motion without notice, 7-0, directly responding to Bill 98, the "Building Homes and Improving Transportation Infrastructure Act, 2026." This motion was brought forward by Chair Jamaal Myers and seconded by the rest of the committee. Councillors Dianne Saxe, Jamaal Myers, Josh Matlow, and Ausma Malik all voted Yes, securing the motion's passage. Alejandra Bravo was absent for the vote, but it still carried unanimously among those present.
What does this mean for us? This shows City Hall is actively pushing back against provincial legislation that could impact our transit system. They're trying to protect the TTC, dude. We all know how important the TTC is, even with the delays. It’s our lifeline, connecting Scarborough with, well, everywhere. The next Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for May 13th, 2026, so we'll be watching to see how this conversation evolves and what other items come up that affect our city's future.
