Your Scarborough Council just made some big moves, fam!
Okay but real talk— Scarborough Community Council was busy on May 28th, making some decisions that directly impact folks in the east end. Two big ones passed with unanimous 5-0 votes.
### What’s New in the 416?
First up, they approved a zoning by-law amendment for 468 to 480 Danforth Road and 509 Birchmount Road. That's a huge chunk of real estate, fam. Councillor Michael Thompson, dude, he voted yes on that one. This kind of approval, it means changes are coming to those properties, probably more of those condos nobody can afford, but we’ll see.
Also, they voted 5-0 to approve another zoning amendment for 5, 7, 9 and 11 Bellamy Road South. So, more development is heading that way too.
But here’s something to make you smile: Councillor Thompson and Councillor Neethan Shan both voted yes, and it passed 5-0, to name the long-term care home at 4610 Finch Avenue East in honour of Bernice Redmon. That’s a lovely touch, you know? Bernice Redmon, what a legacy. It's nice to see some recognition for people who've truly contributed to our communities, especially in Scarborough.
Real talk, this is Toronto — stay up.
