What a game that was last night! If you went to bed early, you missed the Washington Capitals grinding out a crucial 2-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils right here in Washington, D.C. It wasn't always pretty, but sometimes you just need to get the two points, you hear me? Ryan Leonard got us on the board in the first period, his shot was just a thing of beauty, you know? But then it was a whole lot of back and forth, with both goalies standing on their heads. The tension was thick, thicker than mumbo sauce on a half-smoke from Ben's, honestly.
But then, late in the third, Aliaksei Protas popped one in off a beautiful feed from Pierre-Luc Dubois and Tom Wilson. That jont was huge! That win was pure grit, exactly what this team needs right now.

We're now 35-27-8 with 78 points, holding onto that sixth spot in the Metropolitan Division, which puts us right in the thick of the Wild Card race. Every single game is a playoff game from here on out, and earning these two points against a division rival like the Devils is huge for morale and the standings. The mood in Washington, D.C. today is definitely lighter, a little bit more hopeful, you know? We’re not giving up on this season yet, not by a long shot!
