Your Bird scooters just vanished from Windsor. Here's why.

Your scooters are gone and you'll never guess why

Good morning from the border — where Canada meets America and neither one blinks. This is Windsor. You know, I was walking down Ouellette the other day, grabbed a slice from Capri Pizzeria, and I saw fewer of those electric scooters zipping around than usual. Turns out, it wasn't just my imagination. Bird electric scooters and bikes? *Terminé*, gone from the city as of Tuesday.

So, what's the deal, eh? La Ville de Windsor officially announced that the contract with Bird Canada has ended, and they won't be renewing it. This means those bright green two-wheelers that have been pretty common, especially around downtown and the waterfront trail, are packing up. It's not a huge shock, these pilot projects come and go, but it definitely changes the vibe of getting around a little for some folks.

### What This Means for Windsor

* **No More Zipping:** If you relied on these for quick trips between, say, Caesars Windsor and the Via Italia on Erie Street, you're out of luck. * **Transit Shift:** Might mean more folks walking, cycling their own bikes, or hopping on Transit Windsor. * **Future Unknown:** The city hasn't said if another company will step in, or if this is the end of the shared e-scooter era here.

For a lot of us, these scooters were a convenient, if sometimes a little chaotic, way to navigate. Whether you loved them or hated them, they were a presence. Now, it's back to basics on this side of the river. It’ll be interesting to see if another company tries to move into the market, especially with the Gordie Howe Bridge construction bringing so much new activity. Maybe next time, they'll bring back the e-bikes too, for when you've had just a little too much of that good Windsor-style pizza.
