Whew, that was a close call, eh?
The Winnipeg Jets pulled off a gritty 4-3 overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks last night, and I'll tell ya what, my heart rate is still settling down this morning. For anyone who maybe drifted off before the end, the boys were down early, with Chicago's A. Frondell getting one past our guys in the first. But the Jets roared back in the second with three quick ones: Josh Morrissey got us on the board, then Cole Perfetti on the power play, and Isaac Rosen just 38 seconds later to give us a solid lead. We were feeling pretty good, but then old T. Bertuzzi decided to be a pain in the third, tying it up with less than ten minutes to go. It felt like a gut punch, bud, I'm not gonna lie. But then, just 33 seconds into overtime, Kyle Connor — with a beauty feed from Mark Scheifele — sealed the deal. What a relief, eh?
This win, even though it was a nail-biter against a team we really *should* be beating, is huge for the Winnipeg Jets, I'll tell ya what. It bumps us to 32-30-12, keeping us in that Wildcard #4 spot with 76 points, and pushes our last 10 record to a solid 6-2-2. Every single point matters right now, especially with how tight things are in the Central Division. This kind of comeback win, even after giving up a two-goal lead, shows some real character. We needed those two points more than a warm coffee on Portage and Main this morning, and the boys delivered. The mood in Winnipeg this morning? Relieved, for sure, and maybe a little hoarse from cheering at the TV.
We have a team, and they're fighting for every inch.
