Cody Ray grew up in Madison, a working-class suburb just north of Nashville proper, on a street off Gallatin Pike where his family had season tickets to Oilers games when the team briefly played at Vanderbilt Stadium before Nissan was built. His dad, a third-generation Tennessean and pipefitter, drove the whole family down to the old Adelphia Coliseum — now Nissan Stadium — for the Music City Miracle game and replays it to anyone who will sit still long enough.
