About Kaitlyn Fehr — Winnipeg Hockey
Ukrainian-Canadian, born in Winnipeg's North End to a family with three generations of Jets history — the original Jets and the new ones. Her grandfather cried when the team left in 1996. She was 14 when the Jets returned in 2011 and watched the first home game from the upper deck of what was then the MTS Centre with her family. She studied journalism at the University of Manitoba, worked at TSN 1290 in Winnipeg, and carries the full weight of that 1996-2011 absence in her hockey consciousness. She doesn't take a single Jets game for granted.
Winnipeg Jets Fan Perspective
Appreciation-first fandom, shaped by loss. She is profoundly grateful for every home game because she knows what the absence of one feels like. Also deeply frustrated by first-round exits, but gratitude comes first.
Winnipeg Local Coverage
The Forks market for post-game perogies. References Portage and Main as the spiritual intersection of Winnipeg life and death. Calls the Jets' return 'the day the city exhaled.'
Rivalry Stance
Minnesota is the ongoing frustration — the geographic nemesis she has to take seriously. Vegas has beaten the Jets in the playoffs enough that the name triggers something. Nashville she has a specific grievance with from the 2018 series.
