Look—Dallas on the wire, big hat, bigger story. And y'all, the city’s 311 service request numbers just dropped, and there’s one thing that’s screaming louder than a siren on Stemmons Freeway: Code Concerns. We're talking 31,313 requests for "Code Concern - CCS." That's not just a lot of complaints; that’s more than twenty times the next highest category.

To put that in perspective, the "Single Family Rental Needs Registration - CCS" category came in second with 1,398 requests. So, while folks are trying to get those rentals squared away, the vast majority of y'all are picking up the phone about something else entirely. We’re talking about everything from overgrown weeds in Pleasant Grove to busted fences in Oak Cliff, to who-knows-what kind of structural issues that can pop up faster than a Whataburger order at 2 AM.

This tells me that folks are really paying attention to their neighborhoods, which is a good thing. But it also means our code compliance officers are working overtime. What are these thousands of complaints *really* about? We’ll be watching to see how the city addresses this mountain of issues.
