Someone killed 10,000 chickens near Halifax and didn't steal a thing.

Your neighbour's dog didn't sleep last night

Some good morning, buddy — this is Halifax, and we have stories. And sometimes, those stories are about things that just plain don't make sense. I'm talking about the kind of thing you hear and you just shake your head, wondering what in the name of the Bluenose is going on. We've got another one of those, my son, and it's coming out of the North End, a place with some of the best music and some of the most resilient people in this whole city.

### A Barn Break-in, A Baffling Outcome

So, here's the yarn: down in Pictou, not too far from us, some scallywag broke into a poultry farm. You hear break-in, you think, "Okay, what did they steal?" But no, buddy, these folks didn't take a single feather. What they did was turn off the ventilation fans in the barn. Just… off. And because of that, about ten thousand chickens, *ten thousand*, just up and died. RCMP are saying it was physically turned off at the switch. It's not just a sad story for the chickens, though that's some bad in itself, but it's a huge hit for the farm and, by extension, for our local food supply.

* **The sheer scale:** Ten thousand birds, gone. That’s a significant loss for any farm, especially a local one supplying our markets.

* **The mystery motive:** No theft, just… destruction. What kind of person does that? It’s not about the money, it’s about maliciousness.

* **Impact on local food:** Farms like this are part of what keeps Nova Scotia fed. When something like this happens, it affects the whole chain, right down to what’s available on the shelves at Sobeys.

It makes you wonder, doesn't it? What's the point? Is it some misguided protest, or just plain cruelty? Whatever it is, it's a stark reminder that even in our quiet corners of Nova Scotia, there are some pretty bizarre things happening. It’s got people talking from Spring Garden Road to the Dartmouth waterfront, trying to figure out the 'why' of it all.

Some good morning, buddy — this is Halifax, and we have stories.

My buddy Keith and his crew chew on these kinds of head-scratchers every morning, live at mornings.live.
