That one stings a bit, kid. Your Boston Bruins went up to Montreal last night, battled hard, but ultimately took a 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens. Pavel Zacha had himself a wicked night, putting both Boston goals in the net, first on the power play from David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy, then again in the second from Hampus Lindholm and Kevin Shattenkirk. But Montreal kept comin', with Nick Suzuki tying it up in the first and Josh Anderson getting another in the second. Ended up with Cole Caufield sealin' it for the Canadiens in OT. Thought the Boston Bruins had the jump early, but a couple of soft ones got through.
Look, you can't be giving away points to anybody right now, especially not in overtime. You leave the Bell Centre feeling like you left something on the table. The Boston Bruins had their chances, outshot the Canadiens, but those bounces just didn't go their way. Pavel Zacha was a bright spot, showing some real finish, but you need more than just one guy carrying the load to win on the road against a rival. It’s not like they didn't know what they were walking into.
This one means the Boston Bruins are now 37-23-8, still sitting in that Wild Card #1 spot, but the lead ain't what it used to be. The last ten? Four wins, three regulation losses, three O.T. losses. You gotta button it up, particularly when you're looking at the standings like you're staring at the Big Dig progress from the Callahan Tunnel. Every point counts, and letting a division rival grab an extra one, that's tough to swallow. Get ready for the next one.
