Your City Hall meetings are way too secret
Alright Calgary, Cassidy Redcloud here, and we've gotta talk about what's going on down at City Hall. I just pulled the latest civic intelligence monitor data from 2026-03-21 at 11:28 AM, and frankly, some of these recent council votes feel like they're happening behind a big ol' confidentiality curtain.
On March 10, 2026, during a Strategic Meeting of Council, there were two separate motions to adopt reports where "Confidential Attachment 2" was directed to be held confidential. Councillor Jennifer Wyness voted yes on one, and Councillor Landon Johnston voted no on the other – but both motions still carried. Then, Council moved into a Closed Meeting in the Council Boardroom, with discussions to be held confidential pursuant to Section 29 (Advice from officials) of the Access to Information Act.
For real though, when Council is consistently voting to keep attachments and discussions confidential, it makes you wonder what exactly they're capping. We're talking about the people's business here. This is Calgary – we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway, and we expect transparency. I'll be watching closely to see if these "confidential" items ever see the light of day.
