Your Council voted to hide something big on March 10th.

Hold onto your hats, Calgary, we're in for it

You know that feeling when the chinook rolls in and you think, "Finally, spring!" Yeah, well, forget it. Our real-time weather monitors are showing active warnings for Calgary right now. The specifics are still coming in, but two separate warnings are active. This isn't just a dusting, folks. Get ready to hunker down.

### What's Happening at City Hall?

While we're all bracing for whatever that weather's gonna dump on us, City Council has been busy behind closed doors. On March 10, 2026, during a Strategic Meeting of Council, they passed a motion to keep "Confidential Attachment 2" under wraps. Councillor Jennifer Wyness voted yes to adopt the report, as did Dan McLean on a separate but related motion to confirm the agenda. Councillor Landon Johnston voted no on two of these motions.

What's in that confidential attachment? Well, that's the million-dollar question, ain't it? They moved into a closed meeting to discuss it, citing Section 29 (Advice from officials) of the Access to Information Act. They also directed that the discussions from that closed meeting stay confidential. Capping that conversation right up.

Here's a quick look at some other civic highlights:

* **Commercial Permits:** 27 new commercial/new construction permits were issued in Calgary this week. That's a good sign for some development, even if the weather's putting a damper on things right now. * **Property Assessments:** Some of the highest average assessed values are for our big green spaces and developments. Canada Olympic Park properties, for instance, average out at a whopping $56,093,333. Nose Hill Park isn't far behind at $40,863,286 for its 7 properties.

This is Calgary — we've seen the boom, we've seen the bust, and we showed up anyway. We'll be watching for what those weather warnings mean for the city and if any more details about that confidential council meeting ever bubble to the surface.
