Alright Calgary, Cassidy Redcloud here, and we've got some movement from City Hall that's worth payin' attention to, especially if you drive past some empty lots and wonder what's comin' next. Our real-time Civic Intelligence Monitor, updated just moments ago at 2026-04-23T11:59:28.091Z, shows that 11 new commercial and construction permits were issued in Calgary this week. That's a solid push, especially when you think about the buzz around downtown revitalization.
For real though, this isn't just a few minor reno jobs. These are commercial permits, which means we're seeing investment in new buildings or significant upgrades to existing ones. What's even more telling is the Calgary Planning Commission's recent activity. On March 12, 2026, we saw multiple motions carried, with Commissioners like Nathan Hawryluk, Thom Mahler, Charles Boechler, Katherine Wagner, and Chris Hardwicke all voting yes on reports CPC2026-0209 and CPC2026-0143. These reports typically deal with land use redesignations and development permits. It tells you there's a concerted effort to get new projects off the ground.
