Well, that was certainly… something. Now listen, I got my Pecan Lodge brisket plate ready, ice tea poured, and my heart on my sleeve like every red-blooded Dallas Cowboys fan for this draft. And what did we get? The Dallas Cowboys went and drafted *three* offensive linemen in the first four rounds. Three! Tyler Guyton, Cooper Beebe, and then Nathan Thomas. Now, I understand protecting Dak, especially after what we’ve seen in recent years, but to dedicate so much to the big fellas up front, it just feels like we’re patching holes with the finest Texas leather when we needed a whole new saddle. It’s like Jerry went window shopping for a truck and came home with three spare tires.
The mood out here in Dallas is a mixed bag, like a plate of BBQ with too much potato salad and not enough ribs. We signed George Pickens, which I still can’t quite believe, but then we largely ignored other glaring needs on defense. Where's the linebacker depth? The defensive tackle to shore up that run defense that's been shakier than a West End porch swing in a tornado? It’s not euphoric, that’s for sure. It’s more… perplexed. We needed speed, impact, some dynamic playmaker to spark this team, and while those linemen are important, they don't exactly make the crowd at Miller Lite House jump out of their seats.
So, how do I grade this draft for the Dallas Cowboys? I’d call it… Cautious. Star up, Dallas — we ride.
