You won't believe what the Dallas Cowboys just did
Now listen, folks. After the season we just had, a 7-9-1 record and missing the playoffs by a country mile, I was ready for some fireworks. Ready for Jerry to finally open up that wallet and make a statement. But the Dallas Cowboys, they're out here signing Derion Kendrick to a contract? Now, Kendrick's a defensive back, and sure, we need depth in that secondary, especially after giving up 511 points last year. That’s more points than the brisket line at Pecan Lodge on a Saturday. But is this a 'go all-in' move? Is it a rebuild? To me, it feels like they’re just filling holes with patchwork, hoping it holds. It ain't the splash that's gonna make folks down here in Dallas forget that L1 streak.
It’s almost like the front office wants us to hold our breath, hoping for some miraculous draft day or a blockbuster trade that never quite materializes. I've been watching this team from the old parking lots of the stadium to the Miller Lite House, and every year, we have this dance. We need a dominant edge rusher who can get after the quarterback, someone who can change the game, not just fill a roster spot. We also need another true playmaker on offense, a receiver who can consistently demand double coverage and open things up. This Derion Kendrick signing, it’s not exactly moving the needle for me.
My expectations for next season? They're still hanging by a thread, just like my patience after a loss at Allgood Café. We're better than a 7-9-1 team, I believe that in my bones, but these moves don't make me think we're suddenly Super Bowl contenders. We're still a piece or two away from getting over that hump, from making a deep run. I'm waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to give me a reason to believe this year is different.
