According to expense disclosures, Councillor Clarke spent $825.88 on accommodation and $685.00 on registration for the 2025 Alberta Municipalities Convention in Calgary, scheduled for November 12-14, 2025. Councillor Elliott also expensed $825.88 for accommodation and an additional $348.00 for food and incidentals for the same event. It’s important to note these are forward-looking expenses, already filed for an event nearly two years away.
It's a curious thing, planning that far ahead. You almost wonder if they’re getting first dibs on the good hotel rooms, the ones with a view of the Bow River instead of some ventilation shaft. Honestly though, these conventions are where city leaders hash out provincial advocacy and share best practices, so it's not all fun and games. But the optics of expensing for 2025 in early 2024 are something to ponder over your morning coffee.
Meanwhile, the Agenda Review Committee, consisting of A. Knack, A. Stevenson, and J. Wright, met on March 31, 2026, and swiftly carried five motions, all unanimously 3-0. These included adopting and approving minutes, and motions to meet both publicly and privately under the *Access to Information Act* for specific discussions. It's the kind of procedural work that keeps the gears turning, even if it’s less dramatic than a third-period comeback.
