Your City Hall spent how much on a Calgary trip?

Your City Hall expenses are piling up, Edmonton

Good morning, Edmonton. Darren Fedoruk here, shaking off another morning frost that, let's be honest, feels suspiciously like a promise of more winter. But it’s March 31, 2026, and spring, like a certain Stanley Cup, is always just around the corner. Maybe.

Let’s talk about how your money is being spent down at City Hall. According to recent council expense records, travel costs for the 2025 Alberta Municipalities Convention in Calgary are starting to stack up.

* **Councillor Andrew Knack, Councillor Anne Stevenson, and Councillor Ashley Salvador** voted on five agenda items during the March 31, 2026, Agenda Review Committee meeting, all of which carried 3 to 0. * **Councillor Clarke** expensed $825.88 for accommodation and $685.00 for registration for the November 12-14, 2025 convention in Calgary. * **Councillor Elliott** also reported $825.88 for accommodation and an additional $348.00 for food and incidentals for the same event. * **Councillor Anne Stevenson** declared a gift of $120 from Edmonton International Airport on November 24, 2025. Council members Aaron Paquette and Andrew Knack disclosed no gifts for 2025.

These trips, for those who might not follow the minutiae, are crucial for councillors to connect with other municipalities and, theoretically, bring back best practices for our city. But they add up, and it’s worth keeping an eye on the total spend. Edmonton doesn't need your approval. Never did.
