You know, sometimes I wonder if the Executive Committee meetings are just a formality, a sort of ritualistic dance before the real work begins. Because, honestly, looking at the recent votes from May 13, it seems like everyone was in agreement. Every single motion — from adopting the agenda to approving past minutes, even the "Reports not Selected for Debate" (a title which, if you think about it, is a small masterpiece of bureaucratic irony) — passed 5 to 0. Councillors Knack, Salvador, Tang, Parmar, and Elliott, all in lockstep. It's almost... unsettlingly harmonious, like an Oilers power play where everyone knows exactly where the puck is going.

One item that did get some airtime was the Corporate User Fee Policy, with J. Watson requesting to speak. These policies are the nitty-gritty of how much Edmontonians pay for city services, so it's worth keeping an eye on. Meanwhile, the top 311 service request issues reveal a city asking a lot of questions. "General Information" leads with a massive 160,623 requests, followed by "Routes and Schedules" at 112,470. Maybe we should just put up a giant, interactive QR code on the side of the Muttart Conservatory. Just a thought.

We should always know what they're up to.
