Your Councillor Knack got $390 from BILD. Why does it matter?

Your Council Members Got Some Gifts. Here's What You Missed.

Alright, Edmonton. Let's talk about what's happening down at City Hall, specifically some of the little… acknowledgements, shall we say, that council members receive. According to the city's publicly available disclosures for 2026, Councillor Andrew Knack accepted $390 from BILD Edmonton on February 18, 2026. Not to be outdone, Councillor Anne Stevenson received $397 from BILD Edmonton Metro on March 11, 2026. Councillor Aaron Paquette, however, disclosed receiving "0" from "Nothing to disclose" for 2026. It's a spectrum, you see.

* Councillor Andrew Knack: $390 from BILD Edmonton (February 18, 2026) * Councillor Anne Stevenson: $397 from BILD Edmonton Metro (March 11, 2026) * Councillor Aaron Paquette: $0 from Nothing to disclose (2026)

Now, these aren't exactly Oilers-level contract bonuses, but it's important to keep an eye on who's giving what, and to whom. BILD, for those unfamiliar, is a powerful voice for the land development and home building industry here in the Edmonton region. Honestly though, it just reminds you that decisions aren't made in a vacuum, or in a perfectly insulated bubble like the one I wish I had for my walk to work sometimes.

Meanwhile, 311 data reveals that "General Information" continues to be the top service request with 160,623 requests. This suggests that while we're discussing council's... various forms of engagement, many Edmontonians are still just trying to figure out the basics of how their city works. It's almost poetic, really. Edmonton doesn't need your approval. Never did.
