Los Angeles, you won't believe what just happened
Alright, Inglewood, the dust has settled on the draft, and respectfully, I've got some thoughts. We knew the Los Angeles Chargers needed to get serious about shoring up the offensive line, and getting Joe Alt out of Notre Dame with that first pick? That’s not just an address, that's a statement. When Jim Harbaugh steps to the podium, you know it's going to be about toughness, about trenches. Was it the splashy wide receiver some folks on the West Side were dreaming of? Maybe not, but it's fundamentally sound.
You look at what they did after that, pulling Ladd McConkey, the wide receiver from Georgia, and Junior Colson, the linebacker from Michigan. McConkey, you see the quickness, the route running. Herbert needs reliable targets, and McConkey brings that. And Colson? He's a Harbaugh guy through and through. He's got that motor, that grit. It feels like they were really dialing in on players who fit a very specific, very physical culture. Some folks out in Leimert Park might be wondering about some other positions, but these picks feel like they're building a foundation.
The mood out here in Los Angeles is… a little bit of everything. There’s a quiet confidence from some, the kind that says, 'Okay, this is different.' Others are still scratching their heads, wondering if they should have gone for the flash. But you gotta trust the process with this new regime. It's a pragmatic class.
Grade: Resolute.
