We blew it against the Sabres, I’m tellin’ ya
You wake up this mornin' hopin' for good news, and what do you get? A kick in the teeth, that’s what. The New York Islanders were up in Buffalo last night, and not fuh nuttin', but they played a decent game, especially that second period. But a decent game ain’t a win, is it? We lost 4-3 to the Buffalo Sabres, and it was a real gut punch. Bo Horvat had himself a night with three assists, and Brock Nelson was buzzin' out there, but you gotta close it out, right? We were down, came back, and then just… let it slip away.
The Sabres got on the board first with a power play goal from J. Quinn in the first, then we got one back from Kyle Palmieri with a man advantage in the second. Third period, it was a back-and-forth kinda thing. Tage Thompson got one for them early on a power play, then Anders Lee tied it up with a real gritty goal. But then, not fuh nuttin', that’s when it went south. Peyton Krebs put them ahead, then Brandon Byram sealed it. Brock Nelson got one back for us with literally one second left, off a beautiful feed from Mat Barzal and Horvat, but it was too little, too late.
This loss means we’re still sittin’ at 89 points, third in the Metro, but it’s gettin’ tight, ya know? Every point matters now. We gotta tighten up the defense, especially with the playoffs comin'. No time to be mopin' around, not with the season on the line. The mood here in New York City is gonna be a little sour today, trust me. People are gonna be talkin’ about this one over their cawfee and bagels at the deli. We can’t afford to drop these kinds of games when we’re pushin' for a spot.
Not fuh nuttin' — but we're the dynasty. See youse.
