New York Islanders Game Recap: PHI 4, NYI 1

Your Islanders are making me crazy, not fuh nuttin'

Alright, so if you went to bed early last night, you probably saved yourself some aggravation. The New York Islanders played the Philadelphia Flyers at home, and it was a real clunker, ending 4-1 for the Flyers. Not fuh nuttin', but it felt like the whole team was still stuck in traffic on the Cross Island. Owen Tippett and Adam Bump got quick ones in the first period, and then Matvei Michkov buried one early in the second. We barely managed to get on the board with Jean-Gabriel Pageau in the second, off a nice feed from Mathew Barzal and Simon Holmstrom. But then Travis Sanheim put it away in the third, with another assist from Michkov, and that was that. Shots were practically even, 21-22, but the Flyers just capitalized.

This one hurts, because these are the games you just *gotta* win, especially at home. It’s not just the loss; it’s how it looked. We’re sitting at 42-30-5, 89 points, still third in the Metro, but our last ten? Four wins, six losses. That’s not a playoff-bound team, not fuh nuttin'. We need to tighten things up, especially heading into the final stretch.

* Flyers scored three unanswered goals before the Islanders even saw one. * Michkov had a goal and two assists for the Flyers. * Barzal's assist was one of the few bright spots offensively. * The New York Islanders need to find their scoring touch, fast.

This morning, the mood in New York City for Islanders fans is pretty sour. It’s like when you try to get a decent slice of pizza outside of Umberto's in New Hyde Park — disappointing, and you know it could be better. Every point matters now, and we can’t afford to drop these against division rivals. We gotta figure out how to get back to playing our game, the identity that makes us us.

Not fuh nuttin' — but we're the dynasty. See youse.

The guys on the show will be ripping this one apart all morning — catch 'em on line at mornings.live.
