Yinz got a minute? This Pittsburgh Steelers draft reaction is a lot.
### We got what we needed but not what we wanted
Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers done made their picks, and I gotta tell yinz, it's a mixed bag. You always want to walk away from the draft feeling like you got a future Hall of Famer, but this year it feels more like… a solid B. We needed some help on that offensive line, and it looks like we got some big fellas to plug in. They picked Troy Fautanu, an offensive tackle from Washington, in the first round. That's a good start, protecting our quarterback is always job number one, especially with our history of gritty, pocket passers. Then they went and got Zach Frazier, a center from West Virginia, in the second. That’s a real blue-collar pick, exactly what you expect from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
### This ain't the 70s but it's a start
The mood 'round Pittsburgh right now? It's not the euphoria of those Immaculate Reception days, but it ain't furious neither. It’s more like a quiet nod of approval, like when you finally find a parking spot on Carson Street on a Saturday night. The Steelers also snagged Roman Wilson, a wide receiver from Michigan, in the third, and that's a speed guy who can hopefully stretch the field. And then they went and picked up Payton Wilson, a linebacker from NC State, which feels like a steal in the third round. With the signing of Jaheim Bell at tight end earlier, it’s clear they’re trying to add depth. We still need that franchise quarterback, though. That's the elephant in the room that’s bigger than the Primanti’s sandwich across from Acrisure Stadium.
My one-word grade for this draft class? *Practical*.
From Bloomfield to Acrisure — yinz ready? It's Sunday in Pittsburgh.
