It's all about pushing folks online, supposedly for efficiency. But here in Regina, where we still like to get things done face-to-face sometimes, and not everyone’s got the best internet out in some of the smaller communities, it hits a little different.
I mean, we’re not exactly a huge metropolis where every single thing is digitized. There are still a lot of folks, especially our kokums and mosoms, who prefer to drop off their paperwork in person. They like that tangible connection, you know? They don't want to mess with uploading documents to some portal. When you think about the folks who rely on places like the Carmichael Outreach or the mâmawêyatitân centre for help with their taxes, this is just another hurdle. This is Regina—yeah, we know what it sounds like, and we've heard your joke. Now sit down and listen. It's about access, and for some, those drop boxes, even if they're just a small part of the CRA system, were a crucial link. It’s a good thing our provincial budget this year is boosting municipal revenue grants; maybe some of that can go to making sure everyone still has the support they need to file, eh?
