You won't believe what someone did to our R.M. office
Okay, so I just gotta talk about this, eh? Because honestly, sometimes you think you've heard it all in Regina, and then someone goes and spray-paints the R.M. of Sherwood office with anti-AI graffiti. Yeah, you heard me right. Anti-AI graffiti. They apparently tagged the front doors less than a week after the Sherwood council approved Bell Canada's data centre. Like, bless their hearts, but… what?
This isn't some big city protest about tech billionaires in the Warehouse District; this is the R.M. of Sherwood, out past the city limits where folks are usually more worried about crop prices and potholes on the grid roads. We're not exactly Silicon Valley here, are we? It's just so uniquely… Regina. Or, well, Regina-adjacent. It's the kind of thing that makes you chuckle because it's so out of left field, and then you kinda scratch your head and wonder who's out there making protest signs about AI in rural Saskatchewan. The co-op refinery's been a part of our skyline for decades, but I guess a new data centre really got someone riled up, eh?
* **Who Did It?** Unknown, but clearly passionate about… the future of technology? * **Where?** The R.M. of Sherwood office, just outside Regina proper. * **Why?** In protest of Bell Canada's data centre, approved by council.
This is Regina — yeah, we know what it sounds like, and we've heard your joke. Now sit down and listen. For residents of the R.M. of Sherwood and even those of us in the city, it's a reminder that even in a place as grounded as ours, big tech is moving in, and not everyone is thrilled about it. But graffiti? On the R.M. office? That's definitely something you'll be telling your neighbour about over coffee, oh for sure.
