Your City Hall recap and what we learned, eh?
This is Regina — yeah, we know what it sounds like, and we've heard your joke. Now sit down and listen.
*Tânisi* Regina. Darlene Chicken-Lawson here, giving you the rundown of what we’ve been chatting about this week from City Hall. It’s been a week where the big news wasn't actually *inside* the building, eh?
### Just Look Up
Oh for sure, we spent a lot of time talking about the weather. Not just the usual Prairie bluster, but how it impacts our city. Council brought up the idea of those new weather-activated streetlights for downtown, eh? They’d dim when it’s clear and brighten up when a prairie storm rolls in.
Then there was the discussion around the Regina Revitalization Initiative, specifically how the new stadium could handle those sudden hailstorms we get. They’re looking at better drainage systems, you know, so Mosaic Stadium doesn’t turn into a wading pool when the sky decides to open up. It’s all about protecting our investments, and our Riders, *tâpwê*.
Council also heard from residents near Wascana Lake who are worried about increased flooding with heavier spring rains. They're looking at green infrastructure solutions, like rain gardens and permeable paving, to help manage stormwater runoff in those neighbourhoods.
*Kisâkihitin*, Regina.
