The Auditor General just ripped Horizons housing.

Did you hear what da Auditor General found out about housing?

Whaddya at, b'y — this is St. John's, oldest city in North America, and we're still here. Let's go.

I'll tell ya one thing, b'y, when I heard about da Auditor General's report on dat Horizons at 106 transitional housing, my jaw nearly hit da floor of Ches's, it did. Dis was supposed to be a lifeline, eh, a place for folks dat are struggling to get back on dere feet. Dat's da whole point of transitional housing, isn't it? But da Auditor General, Denise Hanrahan, she found "significant issues" from da very start. Like, serious problems wit' how da Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC) was runnin' tings at da facility on LeMarchant Road.

### What Went Wrong, B'y?

Now, you know how important it is to help people in our community, 'specially wit' da housing crunch we got. So for da AG to come out and say dat dis program, meant to get unhoused people into permanent homes, was full of holes... well, it's just not right. It makes ya wonder what kind of oversight was happenin' down at da Rooms, where all da big decisions are made. Da report pointed out some serious blunders:

* **No clear goals:** Imagine startin' a program wit' no real idea of what you're tryin' to achieve! * **Poor communication:** Sounds like da left hand didn't know what da right hand was doin'. * **Lack of proper tracking:** How can you fix problems if you don't even know what dey are?

It's a crying shame, b'y, 'cause da folks dat needed dis most are da ones dat got let down. We're a small city, and we pride ourselves on lookin' out for each other. You see it every day, from da kindness you get walkin' down Water Street to da way people rally around each other on George Street after a long week. To hear dat a program designed to help our own was fumbled so bad, it just hits different here, you know? It makes you think about all da young Newfoundlanders dat had to leave for Fort Mac 'cause dere weren't enough opportunities or support right here at home. We gotta do better for da people dat stay.
