Your Bolts didn't have it last night, and we need to talk.
The Tampa Bay Lightning fell to the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 at home, and honestly, it felt a little flat. Jacob Guentzel got us on the board in the first period, a good setup from Zemgus Girgensons and Ryan McDonagh, answering Juraj Slafkovský's power-play goal for Montreal. For a minute there, I was grabbing a Cuban from Columbia in Ybor just thinking about the momentum. But then the second period hit, and Cole Caufield broke the tie. The third period just sealed it for them, with Mike Matheson getting a short-handed goal and Nick Suzuki putting one in an empty net. We outshot them 37-23, which is a good sign for effort, but Andrei Vasilevskiy just couldn't bail us out like he usually does when we're struggling to finish.
This loss stings, especially at home, but we're still sitting comfortably in second place in the Atlantic Division with 98 points. Our last ten games are 6-2-2, so this isn't a total collapse, just a blip. We need to tighten up the defense and find that finishing touch again. With the playoffs looming, we can't afford to let these opportunities slip, especially against teams we should be beating. The Amalie Arena crowd deserved more last night, and the team knows it.
