Your city just approved a new tower on Barclay Street.

Your city hall just said yes to a tall tower in the West End

Alright. So, let's talk about that Barclay Street rezoning. You might have missed it, what with the rain and everything, but it's a big one. On March 12th, City Council held a Public Hearing for the CD-1 Rezoning at 2028-2038 Barclay Street. Every single councillor present — Mayor K. Sim, Councillor M. Klassen, Councillor P. Meiszner, Councillor L. Zhou, and Councillor R. Bligh — voted in favour. The decision carried.

This means a new development is a go for the West End, a spot already feeling the squeeze. It’s another example of how the city is moving forward with adding density. Beautiful out here. Complicated in here. That's the coast.

What does it mean for you? Well, it's another piece in the ongoing puzzle of Vancouver's skyline and its housing crisis. The West End is getting taller. Keep an eye on how these new towers integrate, or don't, into the existing neighbourhoods.
