Your Knights just dropped one in Carolina, but it's not the end of the world.
Well, the Vegas Golden Knights ran into a bit of a buzzsaw last night in Carolina, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Hurricanes. Pavel Dorofeyev got us on the board first on the power play, thanks to some slick passing from Jack Eichel and Tomas Hertl. For a minute there, it felt like we had a comp coming our way. But then the Hurricanes just started rolling, picking up two goals in the second period, one a power play strike from Andrei Svechnikov and another from Sebastian Aho. Carolina really put the pressure on in the second period, and it felt like we were just chasing the puck.
The third period saw the Hurricanes extend their lead with another power-play goal from Svechnikov, making it 4-1. Our guys weren't completely out of it though, Dorofeyev scored again late in the period off a nice assist from Shea Theodore and Eichel, bringing us within two. But that was all she wrote. It's a tough pill to swallow when you're used to seeing the Golden Knights come out on top, especially with how hot we've been, coming into this game on a win streak. The shots were nearly even, 25-24, but the Hurricanes just capitalized when it mattered.
Look, losing stings, especially when you've been on such a roll. But let's not panic here. The Vegas Golden Knights are still sitting pretty at the top of the Pacific Division with 95 points. Our last ten games? Still 7-0-3. This isn't the kind of loss that makes you rip up your betting slip. It's a road game against a good team, and sometimes the house just has the edge. The mood back here in Las Vegas? A little quiet maybe, like when the Strip goes dark for a minute between headliners. We expect wins, and when we don't get one, it's noticed. But we know this team, we were there in 2017, and we know they'll bounce back. It's all about what's next.
