Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine. Well, here's the thing about your city hall this week. It appears Victoria is getting a bit sweeter, and perhaps a touch louder.
According to recent business licence data, HAZELS ICE CREAM LTD is setting up shop as a mobile bicycle vendor. In fact, they've secured two separate licences, #40784 and #40447, for their mobile operation. Does this mean more ice cream carts cycling through Beacon Hill Park, or perhaps along the Inner Harbour? One can only hope. It's a nice thought, isn't it?

But it's not all quiet contemplation and sweet treats. There's a new "Amusement Centre" called ARCADIA opening at 707 Johnson Street, licence #48095. This particular stretch of Johnson Street is already quite a vibrant spot, and adding an arcade feels like it's leaning into a very specific kind of downtown energy. We're also seeing a new Downtown Veterinary Clinic at 736 Caledonia Avenue, licence #22734, which is certainly a welcome addition for our four-legged friends in that neighbourhood.
