Well, here's the thing about Victoria; sometimes it feels like the city is perpetually preparing for a summer that never quite ends. Or perhaps, one that simply meanders from one year to the next. What else are we to make of the recent business licences?
It seems two new mobile bicycle vendors, both under the name HAZELS ICE CREAM LTD, have been granted licences 40784 and 40447. This suggests a bit of a strategic expansion, doesn't it? Two bikes for two routes, perhaps, bringing frosty delights to different corners of the city. One might wonder if they'll traverse the scenic routes of James Bay, or perhaps brave the slopes near Rockland. Given our generally mild climate, an ice cream bike year-round isn't as outlandish as it sounds elsewhere. It just confirms that simple pleasures are always in season here.
On a different note, there's a new amusement centre, Arcadia, setting up shop at 707 Johnson St. Licence 48095. An amusement centre. What does that even look like in post-haste Victoria? Is it more pinball, or something entirely new? It's certainly a curious addition to the downtown core, which has been leaning more into cafes and boutique shops lately. We'll have to see if it becomes a new after-school haunt or a late-night curiosity.
