Your new favourite arcade is almost here
Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine. We're talking about city hall today, which, you know, keeps humming along. The deer are still wandering through James Bay like they own the place, but something new is arriving downtown.
Well, here's the thing about our city's pulse: it's not always grand pronouncements. Sometimes it's the quiet hum of new ventures taking root. One that caught my eye this week, from the recent business licences released by the city, is Arcadia. It’s an "Entertainment - Amusement Centre" at 707 Johnson Street. Licence #48095. An arcade, then, for those of us who appreciate the simpler joys.

It's curious, isn't it? While everyone's focused on the larger developments, a new place for games and perhaps a little digital escapism is quietly setting up shop. It makes you wonder what kind of atmosphere they’ll cultivate. Will it be a retro haven or something sleek and modern? Either way, it adds a different texture to our downtown core, nestled amidst the Fort Street antique shops and the float planes landing in the Inner Harbour. It’s always interesting to see how these small businesses shift the energy of a neighbourhood.
