Your mosquitoes are getting smoked because of West Nile.

Your mosquitoes are about to get smoked, hey

Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.

The big news this morning, straight from City Hall, is that the province has mandated a city-wide fogging program to combat West Nile virus. This comes after recent West Nile numbers prompted the move, according to a City Media Release issued yesterday, July 30, 2026, at 5:03 PM. So if you're out and about tomorrow, expect to see the fogging trucks. It’s part of living here, hey, and it’s about keeping everyone safe.

Speaking of keeping things running, the city’s 311 service received 44 calls in the last 24 hours. The top complaint, with 10 calls, was listed as "Submission." That sounds a little vague, doesn't it? We’ll be digging into what exactly that means for residents. Also, there were 7 water-related complaints in the last 24 hours, with Inkster Gardens seeing two of them. Keep an eye on your taps and let the city know if you see anything off, hey.

What this all means is that while we're trying to keep the skeeters at bay, our city services are still working hard on the day-to-day. We’ll be watching to see how quickly the West Nile fogging rolls out and if those mysterious "Submission" calls clarify into something more concrete.
