Your Blackhawks really gave it away last night
Lookit, I'm just gonna say it: last night's game against the New Jersey Devils was a punch to the gut. The Chicago Blackhawks ended up losing 5-3, and honestly, we had it right there. We were up a coupla times, even in the third period. You had Ilya Mikheyev openin' up the scoring early in the first, then Frank Nazar, who looked real good, got his first of two goals in the first period to put us up 2-1. But then the Devils just kept comin' back. Luke Hughes and Jack Hughes, they were a real problem for us, especially Jack in that third period. It was a tough road game, plain and simple.
What stings the most is how it all fell apart late. Frank Nazar, bless his heart, put us up 3-2 on the power play in the third period, with an assist from Connor Bedard, who's just somethin' else, I swear. I was already picturing myself getting a celebratory Italian beef over at Al's. But then the Devils just poured it on. Dougie Hamilton tied it up, then Jack Hughes scored two quick ones, the last one an empty netter, to seal it. Shots were 40-31 for the Devils, which tells ya somethin'. Our guys fought hard, but a couple two tree mental lapses and that was that.
So, where does this leave the Chicago Blackhawks? We're still sitting 8th in the Central Division, 9th in the Wild Card, with 67 points. The playoffs are lookin' like a long shot, but you know what? We're still watchin' these young guys develop, and that's somethin'. Frank Nazar had a helluva game with two goals, and you can see the potential there. This team's gotta tighten up on defense and special teams if we're gonna climb out of this hole. We got a couple tough games comin' up, so we need to shake this one off quick. The mood in Chicago? Well, nobody likes losing, especially when you're up late. It's like finding out they put ketchup on your hot dog at Wrigleyville Dogs—it just ain't right.
