Your Hawks just couldn't seal the deal against St. Louis
Lookit, I'm still tryin' to shake off what went down at da United Center last night. The Chicago Blackhawks ended up losin' to da St. Louis Blues, 5-3, and honestly, it felt like we had a couple two tree chances to turn it around. J. Snuggerud got the Blues on the board first, but our guy R. Greene, off a sweet feed from Connor Bedard, tied it up in the first. Then Mikheyev, he gave us a lead early in the second, but that's when St. Louis just started pullin' away, gettin' a power play goal from J. Kyrou and two more from A. Toropchenko and C. Fowler. Mikheyev scored again in the third, but by then, D. Dvorsky had already sealed it for da Blues. We just couldn't keep up with 'em after that second period surge, and you could feel the air just kinda go out of the building.
Here's the deal, the Hawks put up a decent fight with 28 shots on goal, but the Blues still outshot us with 34. Our power play was dead quiet, and that's just not gonna cut it, especially against a team like St. Louis. Connor Bedard, he's still doin' his thing, makin' plays and tryin' to spark somethin', but he can't do it all himself. Mikheyev's two goals were a bright spot, sure, but it felt like we were always playin' catch-up after those back-to-back goals in the second period from Toropchenko and Kyrou. It's frustrating to watch us get a lead and then just let it slip away like that, especially at home.
So, where does this leave your Chicago Blackhawks? We're sittin' at 28-38-14, barely hangin' on in the Central Division, and our last ten games? Rough, like two wins, seven losses, and one OTL. We're on a losing streak now, and this loss to St. Louis just kinda solidifies where we're at in the standings. It's a rebuild, I get it, but losses like this just sting, ya know? The mood in Bridgeport this mornin' is probably like, "another one?" We gotta find a way to finish strong and build some momentum for next season.
