We're still alive after that Canadiens road win!
What a game last night, and if you fell asleep, I totally get it – but you missed some serious action. The Columbus Blue Jackets took down the Montreal Canadiens 5-2 in a crucial road game. We came out absolutely flying in the first, with Boone Jenner netting one just over a minute in, followed by Charlie Coyle. Montreal pulled one back, but then Kirill Marchenko and Sean Monahan kept the pedal down in the second. Montreal did grab a power-play goal in the third, which felt a little too familiar, but Charlie Coyle got his second of the night on the power play to seal it. Leo Carlsson, who I swear is going to be LEOOOO, and Adam Fantilli both had assists. We outshot them 33-22, which is just what we needed.
This win is huge, folks. It moves the Columbus Blue Jackets to 40-28-12, putting us at 92 points. We're still sitting fourth in the Metropolitan Division, holding onto that Wildcard #3 spot. Our last ten games have been a bit of a rollercoaster at 3-6-1, so snapping that losing streak with a W is exactly what we needed to inject some life back into our playoff push. This morning, Columbus is buzzing. The air just feels different, like that first warm spring day after a long winter, or maybe like the sugary rush you get from a Buckeye Donut on High Street. It's a reminder that this team, this young, scrappy Columbus Blue Jackets team, still has fight.
