Your commute to work will be… interesting
Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.
Look, this morning we're dealing with some serious weather. Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement for Lethbridge, and it's not a gentle chinook arch this time. The forecast is calling for significant snowfall starting early this morning, continuing through much of the day. We're looking at accumulations that could make your drive into work, especially across the High Level Bridge, quite challenging.
What does "significant" mean for us? Well, the alerts indicate we could see anywhere from 10 to 20 centimeters of fresh powder by tonight. That's enough to snarl traffic, especially on the west side heading down the hill to downtown, or for anyone coming in from the Coaldale area. This could impact school bus routes too, so parents should keep an eye on their respective school division websites.
* **Snowfall Warning:** Issued for the City of Lethbridge. * **Expected Accumulation:** 10-20 cm. * **Timing:** Beginning early morning, continuing through the day. * **Impact:** Hazardous driving conditions, potential delays for commuters and school transport.
The city's road crews will be out, no doubt, but with this much coming down, it's going to be a battle. Remember to give them space. This kind of snow can make even a short trip feel like an expedition out to Fort Macleod. Stay safe out there, Lethbridge.
