Your City Hall was mostly quiet this week
Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.
Look, this past week, City Hall was quieter than a prairie dog hole in January. Most of the chatter around town, and frankly, what we were paying attention to, wasn't about council decisions or new projects. It was about the sky.
We had a run of special weather statements and warnings. From heavy rain to winds that could take a hat right off your head, it felt like Mother Nature was running the show. That kind of bluster tends to keep a lid on other news, as folks are more focused on their commute over the Old Man River or making sure their fences are still standing.
* Monday started with a special weather statement. * Tuesday brought more warnings; your umbrella wouldn't have done much. * By Wednesday, City Hall was notably silent. * Thursday finally saw the weather settle. * Friday confirmed that those heavy rain warnings were the main act.
It’s been a week where the biggest story was the cloud cover. As we look across this land, Siksikaitsitapi, it’s clear the weather dictates a fair bit here.
