Wild on the road you betcha watch out Ottawa
Uff da, it’s an early one today, a noon puck drop in Ottawa! The Minnesota Wild are heading into the Canadian Tire Centre to face the Ottawa Senators, and you know what? This is one of those sneaky important games, you betcha. We’ve been a little streaky lately, going 4-5-1 in our last ten, but we snapped that losing skid with a big win against Boston, so there’s some good energy there. What I’m watching for tonight is how our top line plays, especially on the road. Can they keep that offensive spark going? Because what this means for youth hockey in this state, for all those kids watching from the rinks in Richfield to the ponds up north, is seeing consistent effort. That’s what we need.
The Ottawa Senators, they’re not exactly tearing it up in their division, but you can’t ever take an NHL team lightly, especially on their home ice. We’re sitting pretty at third in the Central, 96 points strong, so this isn’t a make-or-break game for the Minnesota Wild, but it’s a chance to keep building momentum. I want to see our defense be sharp and our goaltending stand tall, particularly with that early start time. Sometimes those noon games can catch teams flat-footed, you know?
The energy in Minneapolis is always high for the Wild, even with an early road game. Folks are grabbing their coffee at Spyhouse and talking hockey. It’s a chance for us to show we can win consistently, to prove we're not just a flash in the pan. We need to go out there and play our game, the Minnesota Wild game, with grit and skill. No excuses.
* Can the Wild maintain their recent offensive output on the road? * Will our goaltending be sharp for an early start? * Can the defense shut down Ottawa’s key players? * A win here builds crucial momentum for the home stretch.
You betcha — Let's Play Hockey. This is Ingie Olsen-Carlson.
