Well, uff da, that wasn't the morning coffee I was hoping for, you betcha. The Minnesota Wild traveled down to Dallas last night and came back with a 4-2 loss to the Stars, and frankly, it just felt a little… flat. Wyatt Johnston got the party started for Dallas in the first, but our own Brock Faber, that kid is something special, tied it up shortly after. We went into the first intermission feeling okay, but then a power-play goal for Matt Duchene in the second period put the Stars ahead, and honestly, the Wild just couldn't quite dig themselves out of that hole.
Now, let's talk about those key moments, because even in a loss, there's always something to chew on. Jason Robertson made it 3-1 for the Dallas Stars in the third, and that felt like a real gut punch. But then, Brock Faber again, with his second goal of the night, brought us back within one, and for a minute there, walking down Nicollet Avenue, you could almost feel the collective hope from Minneapolis. But then, a late power-play goal, Johnston again, sealed it for Dallas. Two power-play goals against us, you guys, and those are the ones that sting, especially when you think about what that means for our penalty kill going forward.
So, what does this mean for the Minnesota Wild as we look ahead? We're still sitting third in the Central Division, 46-24-12, so it's not the end of the world, but every point matters, you know? Our last ten games are 6-4-0, which is fine, but we need to find that consistent fire, that SKOL energy, for youth hockey in this state, for everyone. We've got to tighten up those special teams if we want to make a real push. This team needs to remember what it means to play Minnesota hockey.
You betcha — Let's Play Hockey. This is Ingie Olsen-Carlson.
Head on over to mornings.live, because Sven and the gang are really going to hash this one out, don't ya know.
