You slept through the Montreal Canadiens actually winning, non?!
The Montreal Canadiens, they went down to Tampa Bay and beat the Lightning 3-2, *en regulation*! I know, right? I was pacing my apartment by the time Alex Texier buried that one early in the third period. Brendan Gallagher, he got us on the board first, a real grinder's goal from Alex Newhook. Then, after the Lightning tied it up, Kirby Dach, he puts one home from Zach Bolduc and Kaiden Guhle. But of course, because it’s les Glorieux, the Lightning had to tie it again with a late goal from Jake Guentzel in the second. But Texier, *mon gars*, he gave us the lead back a minute into the third with a beauty from Lane Hutson and Nick Suzuki. It was twenty-four shots for us, *quarante* for them, so yeah, Samuel Montembeault, he earned his poutine last night.
This win, it's not just a win, it's a statement. We're now sitting third in the Atlantic with 106 points, and that 7-3-0 record in the last ten, it shows we're finally finding our rhythm. This team, they're showing flashes of what we've been dreaming of since '93. Next up, we have a couple of days to recover before we face the Florida Panthers at home. This is the kind of game that tells you if they’re serious, if they’re ready for the big dance. The Bell Centre will be buzzing, I can tell you that.
In Montreal this morning, the air is just a little lighter. People are walking a bit taller down Rue Sainte-Catherine. The win feels good, it feels like maybe, just maybe, the ghosts in the rafters are smiling a little more today. It's a long season, but nights like these, they remind you why we live and breathe this team.
