Your Montreal Canadiens just let that one slip away, didn't they?
That was… *sacré bleu*, that was not the way to start a road trip. The Buffalo Sabres beat our Montreal Canadiens 4-2 last night, and honestly, the score doesn't tell the whole story of how messy it felt. Jake Doan and Rasmus McLeod jumped on us fast in the first period, McLeod's goal on the power play, tabarnac. We got a bit of life back late in the first when Nick Suzuki scored on the power play, from Juraj Slafkovský and Igor Demidov, which was a nice little spark. But then in the second, they just kept coming. Jordan Greenway and then Bowen Byram, another power play goal, just buried us. Kirby Dach got one back in the second from Zach Bolduc, but it was too little, too late. We outshot them, *vingt-huit à seize*, but shots don't win games, maudit.
Look, this stings, especially after how good the Montreal Canadiens have been playing lately, *sept-trois-zéro* in our last ten. We’re still sitting comfortable, third in the Atlantic, 106 points, but you never want to drop points to a team like the Sabres, eh? It’s a bad taste in the mouth heading into the next one. We need to tighten up the special teams, *c'est clair*. This morning, the Bell Centre bell tower might not be ringing quite so proudly, and the steam from your St-Viateur bagel might feel a little colder.
* Goals for Buffalo: * Jake Doan (P1) * Rasmus McLeod (P1, PP) * Jordan Greenway (P2) * Bowen Byram (P2, PP) * Goals for Montreal: * Nick Suzuki (P1, PP) * Kirby Dach (P2)
The boys are on the road for a bit, so they need to shake this off quick. We can’t let one bad game turn into a slump. We need to remember who we are, the Montreal Canadiens, *tabarnouche*.
