Your Habs blew it again and I am *furious*
Good morning, Montreal. If you went to bed early last night, maybe that was a blessing. I'm still trying to get the taste of that loss out of my mouth, and not even a St-Viateur bagel can do it this morning. The Montreal Canadiens, *à la maison* at the Bell Centre, dropped one to the Buffalo Sabres 3-2 in regulation. It started promising, eh? Arber Xhekaj taking a shot, Juraj Slafkovský with a beautiful pass to Cole Caufield on the power play, the Montreal Canadiens up 2-1 after the first period. You felt it, non? Like we had it.
But the Sabres, they just kept coming. Tage Thompson, on their power play in the second, tied it up. And then in the third, tabarnac, another power play for Buffalo, and Zach Benson slips one past our guy. Shots were 22-30 in favour of Buffalo, and it felt like we were chasing it all night after that first period. Samuel Montembeault, he played solid, but you can’t win when you give up two power-play goals like that. We had our chances, Anthony Newhook got one early, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Buffalo Sabres.
Here's what this means for us, *les amis*. The Montreal Canadiens are still holding strong at 3rd in the Atlantic with 106 points, 48-24-10. But a loss like this, at home, against a team below us in the standings, it just stings. We're on a single-game losing streak now after going 7-3-0 in our last ten. We need to tighten up the special teams, *c'est sûr*. We've got a tough schedule ahead and we need every point. The mood in Montreal this morning? It's like the rain outside – grey and a little heavy. We expected more. We *deserve* more.
