You didn't miss much, Devils fans
Alright, so if you went to bed early, you woke up to good news, because the New Jersey Devils went into Montreal last night and shut down the Canadiens, 3-0. Yeah, you heard right, a shutout on the road! Akira Schmid was rock solid in net, stopping all 20 shots that came his way. It wasn't the prettiest game, with only 18 shots for the Devils, but hey, a W is a W, especially when it's clean like that.
The goals came from some familiar faces, and one that's been waiting for his moment. Timo Meier got us on the board in the first period, a beauty from Jack Hughes — these two, when they're clicking, it's just different. Then, in the second, Nolan Foote set up Curtis Glass for his first NHL goal. You could feel the relief and excitement, that kid earned it. And to seal it in the third, Chris Brown put one home, another assist for Jack Hughes, and Jesper Bratt chipped in too. It's good to see the secondary scoring stepping up when we need it most.
This win, it's huge, especially as we're hitting the home stretch. The New Jersey Devils are now 40-34-3, sitting at 83 points. We're still fighting for that Wild Card spot, and every single point matters. We've gone 6-3-1 in our last ten, showing some real grind. This morning in Newark, there's a different kind of buzz, not just the usual rush for a caw-fee down by Penn Station, but a feeling of hope. We need to keep this momentum going, keep playing tough, and keep proving that Jersey hockey is here to stay.
